Artist's Resume

Born in Arizona, JD Adcox became a New Mexico resident at age two. He was educated in Albuquerque public schools and at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. JD moved to Pocatello, ID in 2004.

Over the years, JD developed his artistic talents by working in oils and watercolors. He also worked in leather, wood and clay. These activities took place while he was engaged in a twenty-year career in the United States Marine Corps and a twelve-year career with IBM Corporation.

Returning to New Mexico in 1992, JD began to focus his energy sculpting in stone. He has sculpted in Alabaster, Sandstone, Soapstone, Limestone, Marble, Travertine, Serpentine and Granite. JD had studied sculpting techniques under Madeline Weiner,Scott Owens and Katzutaka Uchida at MARBLE/marble for 13 of the past 14 years. JD has also studied under Jerry Williams. of Barre Sculpture Studios

. Many of JD's works are flowing, non-representational pieces that invite the eye and hand to caress their sensual flowing curves. Additionally, JD has sculpted a variety of realistic pieces that have included a bicyclist, a ballerina, a nude female, Native American portraits, eagles soaring in flight, and American Bison (buffalo).

JD's works have been shown in Santa Fe, Taos and Tome New Mexico and at 'Sculpture in the Park', Loveland, Colorado. Additionally, JD has completed Public Art Commissions in HuiAn, China, Knoxville, TN, and Albuquerque and Belen, NM.

In 2004, JD participated in the Third China HuiAn International Sculpture Symposium in China as the United States representative.

In 2008, JD completed a 16 feet tall sculpture of "Chief Pocatello", a Shoshone Indian Chief, after whom the city of Pocatello, ID was named

In addition to his public art projects, JD's works are a part of several private collections throughout the United States.
