Artist's Statement
There is 'Life' within every stone. My challenge, as a sculptor, is to release
the life that already exists, and not attempt to create one... this is the essence
of sculpture as I preceive it. This 'Life' is one of beauty. If what I create is not
beautiful, I have failed to release the essence within, and rather, have inserted my ego.
If it were possible to sum up the essence of my sculpture in one word, that word
would be "flowing". A flowing of peacefulness, a quality that is not only stimulating
to the mind, but one that must be touched and recorded physically as well. Ribbons of
stone capture the essence of motion by curving through space and themselves in a
contineous strip or ending in a way that allows the viewer to continue to a heigher plane
- physical or mental.
Many of my pieces are reflections of my belief that everything within the universe
follows the cycle of Birth, Growth, Maturity, Death and Rebirth. Understanding this
concept brings peace within - and hopefully is imparted to those that share my art.
